What you likely knew about the enthusiasts of makers local is that we drink a lot of soda. What you may not have known is that we recycle every can of tasty beverage we slam down, but it’s not always taken to the local recycling center. Some days are melt days.
I saw a video by TheBackyardScientist and I really liked it, so I decided to reproduce it!
And then Travis had the fun idea to fill a glass jug with aluminium and waterbeads!

We decided to melt down a bunch of bullet shells that were lying around at the shop, waiting for the occasion. These videos are whats followed. Fun times!

Last night was Makers Local public night. Greg and Phil where playing with an aluminum forge. Phil got the forge kit from BackYardMetalCasting.com and this was the first time it had been fired up. It seemed to work fairly well. The best part is that no one died!
Maker’s Muffins
Ingredients:
1.5 lbs aluminum scrap
Fire
Mix fire and aluminum until molten, pour into mold when shiny. Makes three ingots.
