dancefloor

Members of Huntsville’s Rocket Westies, a westcoast swing dance organization, recently collaborated with members of Makers Local 256 to create a portable dance floor.  The floor was created at Makers, and made its first debut at the RW headline event, Westies on the Water, a weekend long dance event situated on lake Guntersville at Guntersville State Park.

Maker Phil Showers has made several pieces of pottery at Makers Local 256.  Featured here are four cups he recently fired in our pottery kiln.

Aside from the kiln, Makers Local has a pottery wheel and many various slip casting molds.  Phil keeps a large block of clay and a clay cutter on hand and is willing to share at cost with anyone interested in developing their pottery skills.

Use of Makers Local is free and open to the public.  As long as there is a member here to open the door, you’re welcome to come and visit 🙂    Tuesday nights are the best time to come and visit Makers Local, as it’s our open night and we’re at our best for giving tours.

Member Michele Cotten has put over 70 hours into her latest costume.

This her her own personal design, and is her take on Batman’s Poison Ivy character done in the Japanese Lolita fashion style.

The work for this was done upstairs in Makers Local 256′ sewing area.
