The time has come! During this weekends hackathon we will be creating our cupcake for the Global Hackerspace Cupcake Challenge.  We will also be working on getting the shop ready for a photo shoot, and many other projects.

The goal of the cupcake challenge is to bake, decorate and ship a cupcake to another hackerspace over 1000+ miles away.  The cupcake will be judged by the other hackerspace.  Point will be awarded for Creativity of Stabalization, Stability of ingredients, Appearance, Taste and Condition.  Our cupcake will be shipped all the way to the relatively new Santa Barbara Hackerspace.

If you want to help out stop by, you know we are always open 😀

Earlier today Makes Local 256 received an email from Popular Science.  They are going to be running an article on hacker spaces in their April edition and would like pictures of our space.  So I would like to make a call our to all the photographers in the Huntsville area.  Can you make out hacker space look awesome (don’t worry we will help)?  Can you make an image that is 8×10 and 300dpi?  Would you like to help us…this weekend?  If so, email us general [at] lists.makerslocal.org

Thanks
Nathan

With the help of the following people Bob and I were able to pick up the new Soda Machine.  We hope this will make the shop a few bucks as well as be a great project for us.  We have some really unique ideas for the machine and because we got the nicest one we could, these ideas will not take too much work to implement.  Our fist step is to get the machine loaded with some drinks and figure out how everything works.  From there we can start hacking on it.
