D&D 101

Hello Makers!  This upcoming Tuesday, January the 19th @6:30, we’re having a class at the Shop to teach people the basics of Dungeons and Dragons, a classic nerd past time.  Jeff Powers, an experienced Dungeon Master will giving a presenation and showing us what nerds used to do for fun before there were internet connections.  There will also be a small sample game for a little hands-on experience.  We’ll be using 4th edition rules (the most recent) but people don’t need to bring anything.  All materials are going to be provided.

I hope to see you there!

2009 was a year of amazing growth for the Makers Local 256. We doubled our membership to nearly 40 people, and more than tripled our space when we moved to a 2,400sqft building. There have been many successful projects and events throughout the year. We should all feel proud of ourselves. Let’s work hard to make Twenty-Ten a truly innovative year full of creativity, ingenuity, and resourcefulness!

Last weekened Makers Local 256 had a successful open house, which gave us the opportunity to show members of the community what we’re all about and have to offer. Members of IEEE’s Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) were in attendance, and have shared their experience at the open house online:

If you weren’t able to make the open house, don’t feel like you have to wait for the next one to check us out. Someone is in the shop almost every day after 6:30, and on Saturdays we get booming right after lunch. Come out and see what you missed!

Movie night with pie. Come experience the awesomeness of watching Serenity while eating pie. There will be apple pie, pumpkin pie, cheesecake (not really pie but who cares), spice bread and much more. So dust off your favorite recipe it doesn’t have to be pie, and join us for a pleasant night of movies and pie. 7pm at the shop on Friday December 11th 2009
