I just figured out that I can use Google Talk though Gmail, at work.  See I log into Gmail through ssl (https), thus my Google Talk is working, simple because they can't see it.

I want to be able to log into Gmail and use Google Talk to chat with AIM contacts. 
Can this be done with Jabber, since Google Talk uses Jabber? 
What about IRC?

Does anyone know about Jabber and how to use it to do this?
