Overview

A lot goes unnoticed in your daily routine, but what if it didn't have to? What if there was a system where everything that passes before your eyes from the time you leave your house to the time you come home was recorded?

Inspiration

What's needed

  • Small light camera
    • Doesn't have to be concealed necessarily.
    • Would ideally be attached to glasses or used as an eyetap.
  • Recording device
    • Will definitely need to be able to compress video.
  • Storage medium
    • CF, SD, or something similar.
  • GPS

Existing designs

Vitorio Miliano's design:

14 hours of 1mbps 640x480 30fps MPEG-4 video and audio = 1 dual layer DVD/day

Justin.tv: I have no idea how he has his rig setup, but I'm impressed. 24x7 broadcast no matter where he's at.

Possible new innovations

  • Use a PDA and a cell connection to split the frames up into images and upload them to a webserver or flickr account while still retaining the video locally.
    • Alternately forgo to the DV cam and and just used a small digital camera to take snapshots for upload.
  • Deadman's switch: should the camera/server stop receiving video/images the last image/frame and gps coords are sent to a predetermined individual so that they may follow up.

Usage

  • Each day could be reviewed at any time.
    • Find out what that person really said.
    • See if there really was someone following you.
    • Get the tag of that guy that cut you off in traffic.
    • Point out that hot woman to your friends.
  • Compilation videos could be made of similar events in a given time frame.
  • Enjoy a good day over and over on the bad days.
