Overview

The idea came from the knowledge that cameras usually don't filter infrared light. This means when a picture is taken, any IR light is interpreted as a bright white light. So the idea is to take IR LED's and make a license plate frame. When a picture is taken of the license plate say from a traffic camera your plate is covered by IR light making it impossible to read...thus avoiding a ticket. As an added bonus, humans can't see IR light, making this solution perfect.

Progress

Notes

  • Wikipedia page on Traffic Enforcement.
  • Patent - Vehicle license plate imaging and reading system for day and night.

Questions

  • I noticed on both the Wikipedia page and the patent page states that some cameras use IR light as a flash. Does this just enhance the reflection of you plate?
