Makers Local 256 enacted the Rules/Policies system via proposal from Jeff Cotten made on Tue, Jun 3, 2014. and Accepted by the board Mon, Jun 16, 2014.

Q1) Can a member requested board vote halt the contest of an existing accepted policy? A1) Yes, "Policies are contested informally via email until the policy is agreed upon, or until a member requests a board vote. "

Q2) Is there a minimum amount of time that a contest can happen before a request for a board member vote stops discussion for existing accepted policies? A2) Wording has been updated to: "Policies are contested informally via email until the policy is agreed upon, or until a member submits a proposal to the board to define a rule." This should clarify that when a proposal is formally submitted, informal contesting has ended. There is no minimum amount of time that the proposal must be informally contested.

Q3) What is the process for removing a rule, without replacing it with another policy? A3) The existing system for submitting a proposal to the board would be used for altering or removing rules.

Q4) Are board members forced to abstain from voting on rules based on proposals they have suggested? A4) No

Q5) Do I understand correctly that existing policies and accepted policies are the same thing? If there is a difference, there should be some clarity about that difference, otherwise we should probably stick to one of those terms for clarity's sake. A5) Wording updated to use only "accepted" instead of "existing" for policies.
