Overview

Through a discussion about homemade bagpipes on 02/24/2010 and the lack of lung capacity to fill the sack, it was suggested that a Dyson fan design might help with this. This led to further usage possibilities and this project page.

How it works

Ideas

  • Rather than a fan or air compressor in the base as the source, place the ring on a set of low friction rollers so it can be manually spun.
    • For instance in the case of bagpipes a person would be the source of the moving air.
  • Used as a wind "amplifier" through air scoops around the ring.
    • One problem to overcome would be having it face into the wind without it's own air stream affecting it, as it'll be going perpendicular to the wind itself.
