Facilities Committee

• Cleanup Day Results -
  • Storeroom now has some items that are leaving this week for tech recyclers. If you wish to claim something, label it with your name and store it away safely. The following items in or near the pile will be kept:
    • Drinking Fountain - Kept by Crashcartpro and Tuttle
    • R/C Mower; Frame, RC parts - Kept by Omegix, the three lawn mowers will be tagged 'keep' or 'dispose' by him by 1/22/11.
    • Four rubber tires - Kept by spacefelix
    • Plastic barrel - Kept by spacefelix
    • Two water heaters, one a rusted tank and one a squat heater in a white metal jacket - Kept by Preauxphoto, will be stored outside in the meanwhile.
    • Garden Hose - Will be kept by shop for members
    • Blue Tote with Concrete-Making Materials - Kept by Gregabyte
    • Bag of Pearlite - Kept by Hanyan
    • Sheets of bathroom board and EPS foam insulation - Will be kept by Facilities Committee for insulation
  • Material Rack - Started this month, ECD end of 1/11.
  • Further Work
    • Will move the items in the garage area back into the storeroom over the next couple of weeks. ECD end of 1/11. Goal is to have a clear garage floor area.
• Changes To Shop
  • Furnace Intake Vent Plug Installed - Possible carbon monoxide hazard, so CO detector has been installed in shop.

Discussion

• Publicity Opportunity with Huntsville Time - Journalist from Huntsville Times is interested in doing articles about life in Huntsville. She is looking to us as a subject. She will contact the shop to arrange an interview.

  • Donations from non-members brought us to a profit for December
  • Half of January's donations are in, and we're looking good for the month.
• Facilities Report
  • There's a pile of things about to be discarded after the recent cleanup day, claim it if you want to keep it, otherwise it's going away. It will be gone week of Monday, January 17. It was supposed to be gone Saturday
  • Insulation work is making progress, but still underway.
  • Garage Area cleanup in progress.

• Popular Science has asked for pictures of our space to show in an article about hackerspaces. We took photos this last Saturday.
  • @e watched a slideshow of the pictures.
  • All the pictures are available on the dockstar in the shop.
• Members will be going to Unclaimed Baggage the morning of Saturday, February 5th. All interested parties are invited to car pool.
• We are participating in the Global Hackerspace Cupcake challenge.
• Journalist from the Huntsville Times wants to do an article about the shop. Ethan/Spacefelix is the point of contact.
