I have been inspired to experiment with stencil art. I have been using the Gimp to take an image, run it through a threshold filter to get the desired look. I then print it out and cut out the resulting stencils. I've been painting them at the Maker's shop. So far the backgrounds have been fun, but I am far too impatient to successfully stencil and must work on letting each layer dry before starting the next.

Section to come soon. I will try and document some of the tricks I've tried, and how they've turned out. So far I've only tried to burn the shop down and it didn't work so well. I have some ideas for water droplet effects, and would like to find a way to reproduce a bloodspray look.

Stencil day #1

Tried four paintings, only one was worth sharing. Turns out rushing through multi-layer stencils results in terrible quality paintings. This picture shows a feeble attempt to recreate a sunburst pattern in the background.
