Overview

This class is going to cover the very basics if GIMP. It’s a very powerful tool for editing imagery and it’s free, and ideal for enhancing photos or basic graphics work. For a one night class, I'm going to cover the most basic tools, and the most obvious applications for first-time users, like touching up photos or creating a basic graphic or text editing.

Tools

  • Selection/marquee
    • The many applications of the Shift key
  • Layers
    • Opacity
  • Line
  • Brushes

Resolution

  • Designing for internet
  • Designing for print
  • Scanning pencil art work

Photo Editing and Touch-Up

  • Rotate Canvas
  • Levels
  • Transform
  • Hue/Saturation

Basic Graphic Design

  • Fonts
  • Emboss/Drop shadow
  • Color (change individual letters)
