Potential Member Query: Who's the board?

I was explaining the process for becoming a new member to some potentials at the shop. One of the troubleshooting tips they offered was that they didn't know who the board members were. Would the board be willing to place a photo of themselves on the wall or on the website? Omegix 22:19, 20 January 2010 (CST)

Recognition Memberships

There have been some instances where people want to contribute to the make shop financially and be considered a member, but aren't really concerned with gaining 24/7 access to the shop. The reasoning for wanting to be a member is to feel like they are part of the organisation by contributing. They like what we're doing, want to support it, but only financially.

Perhaps we could have a type of overlapping membership that recognises that someone is financially supporting our organisation? If the member later wanted to transition into being a full member, they could always go through our current procedure to do so.

I've heard that descriptive levels\labels work well for this kind of membership. A copper membership might be anything under $100 a year A silver membership might be Anything between $100 and $500 and so on.

We could also brainstorm some perks that come with being a certain level of donor, like recognition on the front page of the site, or custom greets from Ackis in the channel. For keyed members instead of "Unlocking for Member" ackis could say something the member requests like "His awesomeness [Member] has graced the presence of the Make Shop."
