Recommend modifying procedure as follows to save power:

Power On: Starting state:

  • Gas valve on left side of unit closed (perpendicular to pipeline).
  • Wall thermostat switch (behind you and to the left) to 'off' (center)
  • Main power switch on wall to right of unit off (switch down)

1. Turn main power switch to on (switch up).

2. Turn wall thermostat switch to 'heat' (move switch to right).

3. Turn gas valve on (parallel to pipeline).

4. Watch for fan start and glow plug ignition. Once the glow plug lights up fully, the electronic valve in the heater will open (black box on gas line inside of unit, between gas input and flame holders and has an 'off/on' switch. Must be on at all times) and gas will flow and ignite over glow plug. If no ignition occurs due to cold starting conditions, hold a flame to the base of the flame holders when the glow plug lights again (the glow plug and electronic valve will cycle on and off over and over again until ignition occurs).

Power Off:

1. Turn wall thermostat switch to 'off'.

2. Turn gas valve off.

3. Wait until fans stop and then turn main power switch off.

NOTE FOR COLD WEATHER: Let the bathroom sink tap drip a little during the cold months. That way we won't have the pipes freeze and burst.
