[hide]Policy 1: Borrowing Tools
(added to wiki 10/9/14) Any time a member wishes to borrow a tool from the organization, that member should send an email to the members' list or write a note on the front whiteboard. The email or note should contain at least:
- the member's name
- a brief description of the tool(s) borrowed (i.e. "ryobi cordless drill/big battery")
- the date the item is being removed from the premises
- some indication of when it will be returned (i.e. gone for 2 days, tomorrow, today, 10/10/14, etc.).
Draft Policy: Getting Checked Out On Tools
Identifying Tools That Require Check-Out
Owners of some tools on loan to the shop have requested that users of those tools be checked out before use of the tools. These tools are labeled, and have the following information on them:
- Name of Owner
- Name of any other people who can train new users on these tools
Loaning Tools to the Shop
If a member wants to loan a tool to the shop the member is required to have three people at the shop who are capable of using the machine, and training others on using the machine. Having at least 3 points of contact will allow others to learn and use these new machines.
Supplemental Information
If tools require getting checked out on, they will be marked. The following is a non-definitive list of tools and the people that can check you out on them, and is subject to having outdated information.
